New Release+Review: Ryan's Bed by Tijan

I crawled into Ryan Jensen's bed that first night by accident.

I barely knew him. I thought it was his sister's bed--her room. It took seconds to realize my error, and I should've left...

I didn't.
I didn't jump out.
I didn't get embarrassed.
I relaxed.
And that night, in that moment, it was the only thing I craved.

I asked to stay. He let me, and I slept.

The truth? I never wanted to leave his bed. If I could've stayed forever, I would have. He became my sanctuary.

Because--four hours earlier--my twin sister killed herself.

Mackenzie’s twin sister, Willow, commits suicide and she is struggling with her grief. On top of that she is transferred to a new town and  school. When it rains it pours like the old saying goes. Mackenzie ends up in Ryan’s bedroom by mistake and the two of them form an unlikely bond. I loved that Mackenzie had someone she could lean on during this difficult time. A friend of mine lost her twin sister many years ago and she told me this is something she will never recover from. So as I was reading I thought of her and my heart just kept breaking throughout this story. Mackenzie faced a lot of hurdles in this story and I wanted to reach in and hug her and tell her she would be ok. I loved that there was more to the story when it came to Ryan. He wasn’t just your typical popular hottie and he was really good for Mackenzie.

The last sentence of this story gave me chills.

This story punched me right in my gut and I was so sad as I read. This was a tough subject matter to read about but I am so happy I continued with the story.  Tijan’s writing was real and raw.  Most importantly this story made me think and will stay with me long after I finished.
