Cover Reveal: Girl Crush by Stephie Walls

Cover Design: Wicked by Design
Release Date: September 21, 2017

I was done.
Done with men.
Women say it all the time; they get fed up, throw their hands in the air, and vow a life of celibacy—until the next chiseled chest comes into view and then they’re foaming at the mouth and wiping the drool from their chins. But this was different, I really meant it.
I’d been manhandled by the last pig that would ever bring his sausage near me. After one of the nastiest divorces in history, followed by some of the crudest and raunchiest dates, I’d decided to bat for the other team.
…At least I tried.
But creating the next Brat Pack hadn’t been on the agenda. Neither had Collier West. And I wasn’t prepared for finding true love at the end of my gal-pal tryst.

One of Five ARC's for Girl Crush

New Release+Review: The Playboy Bachelor by Rachel Van Dyken

THE PLAYBOY BACHELOR by Rachel Van Dyken (August 29, 2017; Forever Mass Market; $7.99; The Bachelors of Arizona Book 2)

She's no Sleeping Beauty. And he's definitely no prince . . .

Margot McCleery could have lived her whole life without seeing Bentley Wellington again-her ex-best friend and the poster boy for Hot, Rich Man-Whores everywhere. But Margot's whiskey-augmented grandmother "buys" Bentley at a charity bachelor auction, and now suddenly he's at her door. Impossibly charming. Impossibly sexy. And still a complete and utter jackass.

Bentley's just been coerced by his grandfather to spend the next thirty days charming and romancing the reclusive red-haired beauty who hates him. The woman he abandoned when she needed him the most. Bentley knows just as much about romance as he knows about love-nothing. But the more time he spends with Margot, the more he realizes that "just friends" will never be enough. Now all he has to do is convince her to trust him with her heart . . .

Second chance love story. Check
Best friends to lovers. Check
Enemies to lovers. Check
Angst. Check
Passion. Check
Comedy. Check

Bentley seems like your typical rich playboy bachelor but there's more to him that meets the eye. I honestly wasn't expecting him to be the guy he turned out to be in this book. He was caring, kind, loyal, selfless and put other people's needs before his and often buried his emotions. I loved seeing this other side of him
and I was rooting for him throughout the whole story.

Margot has suffered a very traumatic experience and lives her life as a recluse. She doesn't leave the house. Ever. Her and Bentley used to be best friends but something tragic pushed them apart. They are forced to be reunited and things aren't easy to say the least. I loved Bent and Red together. They fought hard and I do mean hard. They were like bulls!! They were both hurting in different ways and both were so STUBBORN at times!!! After their walls come down we have the making of a wonderful love story. Both characters were able to help and heal each other plus they grew in several ways and that's what a good relationship is all about!! I really enjoyed seeing Bentley and Margot face their fears and build a future together.

This book had so many of my favorite tropes and I loved every minute of this story. I've been looking forward to Bentley's story after reading "The Bachelor Auction" and it didn't disappoint! The writing was good, the story flowed and I found myself sad when it was over. I also loved how flawed the characters were in this story. Yes, they have money and good looks but this story shows that isn't everything. Money can only do but so much. Rachel Van Dyken did a wonderful job with this story and I can't wait to read Brant's story next.

Review: Vicious by L.J. Shen

They say love and hate are the same feelings experienced under different circumstances, and it’s true.
The man who comes to me in my dreams also haunts me in my nightmares.
He is a brilliant lawyer.
A skilled criminal.
A beautiful liar.
A bully and a savior, a monster and a lover.
Ten years ago, he made me run away from the small town where we lived. Now, he came for me in New York, and he isn’t leaving until he takes me with him.

She is a starving artist.
Pretty and evasive like cherry blossom.
Ten years ago, she barged into my life unannounced and turned everything upside down.
She paid the price.
Emilia LeBlanc is completely off-limits, my best friend’s ex-girlfriend. The woman who knows my darkest secret, and the daughter of the cheap Help we hired to take care of our estate.
That should deter me from chasing her, but it doesn’t.
So she hates me. Big fucking deal.
She better get used to me.

Lord knows I love me a lovable and redeemable jerk but I honestly couldn't stand Vicious for majority of this story! After his mother dies while he was young, his life is forever changed. What he went through was horrible but taking his anger out on Emilia when he got older wasn't cool. He was treated her like trash and called her "help" because her parents were live in staff at his parents mansion.

Ten years go by and he is still the same a-hole and Emilia is struggling to take care of her and her sick sister, Rosie. I was annoyed because after all these years he still referred to her as "help" which showed he had no respect for her still!! Emilia had no backbone when it came to him and let him do whatever he wanted!! Girl. You aren't a teenager anymore! Stand up and tell him to go blank himself but does she do this? Nope, because after all these years he makes her shake and quiver blah,blah,blah....I prefer my women characters to be sassy and strong so it was hard for me to connect with her at first.

As the story progresses we get to see another side of Vicious and he's still an ass but he does have some redeemable qualities. He really struggled with the guilt of his mother's death and his feelings with Emilia. At times he could be so sweet and caring then he would do a jerk move and I was like here we go again….

"This time, you don’t get to make the rules. This time, Vicious, you lose.”

Yes!!! Emilia finally gets the backbone I knew she had and let's Vicious know enough is enough!! Some stuff went down and I honestly don't blame her for her reaction. It was nice that she finally fought him and stopped being a doormat!! You go girl!!

Side note: The tattoo shop scene was hella sexy and hot!!

This was my first time reading anything by this author and I was thoroughly impressed. I loved the dual point of views and the flashback from past to present. This story was full of so many emotions. Love, hate, deceit, revenge, lust and you can't help but get sucked in! You have found a new fan in me L.J. Shen.

Review: Defy by L.J. Shen

My name is Melody Greene, and I have a confession to make.
I slept with my student, a senior in high school.
Multiple times.
I had multiple orgasms.
In multiple positions.
I slept with my student and I enjoyed it.
I slept with my student and I’d do it all over again if I could turn back time.
My name is Melody Greene, and I got kicked out of my position as a teacher and did my walk of shame a la Cersei Lannister from the principal’s office, minutes after said principal threatened to call the cops on me.
My name is Melody Greene, and I did something bad because it made me feel good.
Here is why it was totally worth it.

After having her dreams shattered Melody takes a job teaching a bunch of privileged spoiled kids. This isn't what she wants to do but she has no choice and is going with the flow. I really liked Melody because she was sassy and didn't play by high society's rules and expectations.

Jaime is one of the HotHoles but he's more reserved. People think they have him all figured out but he's not what everyone thinks he is. There's a lot more when it comes to Jaime and he has a huge caring heart. I loved the stand up guy Jaime became as the story unfolds.

“And you feel like a woman worthy of a fight, Ms. Greene.”

“Because I think about you before I think about myself. Always remember that, Little Ballerina. Always.”

I loved the how you could feel the sexual tension oozing off the pages between Melody and Jaime. Their connection and banter eventually developed as the story progressed and it was everything!! This isn't just an insta love story. You get invested and fall in love with the characters and despite the fact that their relationship is forbidden, you can't help but want them to defy all odds and be together.

At first I wasn't sure if I would like the book because it was billed as an insta lust/love type book but it was so well done!! Shen has such a way with words. This is the second book that I've read by her and I was completely sucked in and couldn't stop until I was finished with the book. This series has become one of my favorites and I can't wait for Ruckus.

New Release+Review: Hard Lessons by Charlotte West

Down-on-her-luck teacher, Daisy Clemmens, is about to learn some hard lessons. (Not like that, you perv.)
Lesson One
No matter how broke you are, never agree to a job that includes a rabid eight-year-old, requires a tetanus shot or where your boss is a sexy (and cranky) rock ‘n’ roll god.
Lesson Two
Do not, do not start to have tender, gooey feelings for the sexy commitment-phobe rock ‘n’ roll god. You'll only get hurt.
Lesson Three
Okay so you've slept with the sexy rock ‘n’ roll god. But it's not too late. Just whatever you do, don't fall in love. Whoops. Too late.
Lesson Four
Never love someone, even if they are a sexy rock ‘n’ roll god, more than yourself.

When your desperate for a job coming right Of of college, you pretty much do anything.   And if that means going on tour with a notorious rocker with a foul mouth and with his wild eight year old daughter, then you start to question if you were using your brain.

Let me first say, I loved Daisy. How she was nurturing to Addison and was like a mother to her.  She protected and shielded her from her father's crazy lifestyle on the road.  But when Billy wanted something, he wasn't afraid to make his request known.   And what ever the rocker wanted, he got.  But through the years Daisy knew how to handle him and her heart.   And when Billy wanted only Daisy, he changed his ways.  He was still over the top but he pursued Daisy to the fullest. But Daisy always shielded Billy's daughter, Addy to seeing them together.  She wanted to make her feel safe and loved.   But when Addy left the tour for school, Daisy and Billy were on full force.

Daisy was a strong woman.  Even though everyone bends over backward, she didn't cower to him.  I liked Hard Lesson more than Good Lies.  But I'm still not a huge fan of Billy but I did enjoy the day to day being on a rock and roll tour.

Good Lies Review:
Sex, Lies, and Rock-n-Roll.  Life on the road, revolving door of nannies, and a rocker bad boy that is forbidden.  And it doesn't help when your father is a world famous rocker.

Addison and Warren are found in a compromising position backstage, Addy is shipped away. But nothing stops them for being together.  With months of being on a European Tour with the forbidden rocker, Warren and Addy not only are explosive but they also happen to get married.  When Addy stumbles upon a conversation, she is rocked to her core what she overhears what from War.   When she escapes back to US, Addy files for divorce but War adamantly refuses to sign.  Fast forward three years, she is brought back  But when she is forced to go back on tour with her dad and her husband, life is anything but good.

This was my first time reading Charlotte West.  And I will be honest, I was mixed on Good Lies.  It's not your normal rock-n-roll romance story.  Don't get me wrong, it was good but the story didn't wow me.

New Release+Review: The Better Man by Barbie Bohrman

Meet Max Allen.

He’s ambitious, too smart for his own good, and very single.
Nicknamed “Max-A-Million” by society gossip types, he thinks he’s got it pretty damn good and he’s right…for the most part.

Meet Daphne Rodriguez.

She’s ambitious, too smart for her own good, and very single.
She works extra hard for everything she has and never complains about the crappy hand life has dealt her.

When Max is presented with the opportunity of a lifetime, it comes with the condition that he must work with the one person he despises most…and wants the most: his sworn enemy, Daphne.

However, Max has no plans of giving Daphne the satisfaction of ever letting her know how he feels about her. Instead, he vows to make her life miserable at every turn.

Which works out perfectly, since Daphne has no intention of making it easy for Max either.

When all hell breaks loose and they’re on a collision course with disaster, these two stubborn people will have to overcome their mutual hatred of each other long enough to work together and get the job done.

For better or worse, they will have to rely on each other to save themselves…and the people they love most.

Whew. This book. I honestly wasn't sure how I was going to end up liking this book. When I first started reading I couldn't stand Max at all! He had an unbelievable ego, sense of entitlement and privilege that knew no bounds. I like cocky guys but Max was just a bit too much at times and I wanted to knock him off that pedestal so hard.  I decided to only keep reading because of Daphne and how much I loved her, her spunky attitude and nonsense approach on life. Plus, I love her family and how they all take care of each other.

"That was all it took for me to know that I was ruined for any other woman; this right here… this moment with Daphne meant more to me than I had expected it to."

Halfway during the book the light went off and Max became the man I knew he could be and it made me so happy seeing this side of him. As expected there was drama but it wasn't the kind of drama I would have ever expected in a million years. I had to read those chapters twice to make sure it really happened. My heart broke and I wasn't sure how Max and Daphne could come back from this to be honest.

I'm a sucker for enemies to lovers and this book was well done. The first book was good but this book got to me big time. The writing was on point and the story flowed and I could relate to Daphne big time. I love it when you can identify with characters as you read. Bohrman really impressed me with her storytelling and writing in this book and I can't wait to read the next story.

4 Book Corner Stars

Rivals, enemies and an opportunity of a lifetime that bring these two together.  Max aka Max-A-Million and Daphne are modern rivals in New York City entertainment industry. The best of the best and the up and coming.  But when they are paired up together, they are explosive and competitive of each other.

Daphne is all about family with her grandmother and brother.  She puts her needs before herself.  If it wasn't for her grandmother taking her in, she wouldn't be where she was at now.  With two jobs, she makes ends meet. But always tries to end of having dinner with her family.  But when an opportunity comes available, Daphne has to way pros and cons to be with her rival, Max.

Max has made a name for himself.  With being in a prominent family, he wants more.  Wants to be known.  He not just known as Max-A-Million.  His Twitter following has a nickname for him.  But when he is forced to partner with Daphne, their chemistry is off the charts.  But when a tragic moment hits close to home, he questions himself if he can be true and honest with himself.

The last part of the Better Man totally blindsided me.  Family comes together and unite.  I've really enjoyed The Better Man and can't wait for more!

Blog Tour+ Review: Toying With Her by Prescott Lane

Toying with Her by Prescott Lane
Release Date: August 17th
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Toying with Her, an all-new standalone from Prescott Lane is available NOW!!!

No one said finding love was easy, but when you invented the world’s best selling vibrator, it’s near impossible.  Yep, that’s right.  That little toy hidden in your bedside table is my brain child.  It’s aptly named Woman on Top.  And you know what they say . . . it’s lonely at the top.

So I’m headed home to my Southern roots.  It’s supposed to be an extended Summer vacation — nothing more.  But Rorke Weston has other plans for me.  Plans that not only involve me being on top, but also underneath him.

It’s been said you never forget your first.  For me, that’s definitely true.  No night has ever lived up to the one I spent with Rorke.

He’s turned into quite a man.  Tan from the Southern sun, and stubborn as the day is long.  And there’s nothing sweeter than the swipe of his tongue.

Rorke wants his chance.  The one we never had.  But that was a long time ago.  When I still believed in Prince Charming and Happily Ever Afters.  Even ten years later, I feel a pull.  And it’s not simply Rorke yanking down my panties.

Do second chances really happen?  Or is my heart simply toying with me?

Sterling Jamison is the woman on top.  She’s a young woman living in New York who owns her own business.  A great business that has made her successful and millionaire, but with success she’s discovered it’s lonely at the top.  It is the unwavering loneliness that has brought her back home to Alabama for an extended summer vacation with her parents.
Rorke Weston is the town’s hottest bachelor, a friend and the man she lost her virginity to 10 years prior.  He’s now a teacher at the same HS they attended and he knows, since first laying eyes on her, that he’s still harboring feelings for Sterling.
Second chance love is one of my favorite kind of reads and this one didn’t disappoint.  If I’m being honest, it took a while for me to warm up to the story.  I cried and laugh, but had only a lukewarm feeling to it until I started really feeling the story and it hit me in all the right places.
Sterling and Rorke complement each other beautifully.  She is in desperate need to be loved, to strip herself of the barriers she’s placed around her heart and be vulnerable, to relinquish control to someone else while Rorke is the perfect southern gentleman and more than anything, has been in love with her almost his whole life.  He’s a man with principles and values who will not let her money or her chosen career path to come between them.  Theirs is a love for the ages, same as their respective parents’ and it’s worth fighting for.
I loved almost every character in this book, except the one, of course.  I loved the story and the storytelling, most especially the use of the quotes and I wondered about Pierce.  This was my second time reading a book by Ms. Lane and once again her writing took me on a great ride with a beautiful story of soulmates finding their HEA with each other.
“That’s the thing about women.  When they push you away, it means you need to love them harder.”

I know exactly where I want this kiss to go now.  We don’t even have to move from this spot.  I can take her right up against the door.  My lips hover over hers, her chest rising and falling, my cock hard as a rock and pressed against her stomach.  The warmth between her legs calls to me, and I bend my knees, pushing into her.  She grinds right back.

“Just a kiss,” I whisper, unsure whether I’m telling myself or her.

We never just had a kiss.  We went from kissing to sex in the same breath.  And while I want her naked in my bed, I want her for more than one night this time, more than just this summer.  I want that more.  I’m not going to make it easy for her to dismiss me, dismiss this as a one-night stand or a summer fling.

I’m not going to make it easy for her to leave me.  I’m going to make it damn near impossible.

Winding my hand in her long brown hair, I lower my head, letting my breath tickle the skin of her neck.  Her body trembling, gently I trail kisses up her neck, letting my tongue linger ever so slightly.  She tries turning her head down to me, desperate for my lips, but I grip her hair a little tighter, controlling the moment.

“Rorke,” she begs breathlessly.

I know she’s used to being in control.  Hell, the woman is responsible for more orgasms than any man could ever be.  Lifting my head to look in her eyes, I say, “I know you’re used to being in control of your pleasure.  But that ends right now.  When you need an orgasm, I’ll provide it.  When you want a kiss, I’m your man.  You may be the woman on top, but I’m the man holding you up there.”
