Review: Prince Brock by Xavier Neal

Members only.

A simple rule but a valuable one.

The Castle is the most exclusive and illusive male strip club in the country. As dancers we're treasured like royalty and as clients, you're treated like it.

I'm the hot tempered, blue eyed beast whose bark is just as vicious as his bite.

Every man that walks out onto the stage is loved like a prince.

I'm Brock and this is my story.

-This is the THIRD book is a series of STANDALONES.

Brock Beaumont and French Adams have been together in a professional capacity for 10 years. They trust each other and they have a relationship as strong as the feelings lingering under the surface, but she keeps him at arm’s length, never giving him the relationship he’s been so patiently waiting for because she thinks sex, and anything else for that matter, will only ruin what they already have.
This is my first read by the author and I came to hit with very high hopes. Hey, it’s a book about a stripper and his boss so how could it go wrong?
I liked the concept of the characters talking directly to the reader. It’s handled in a way I’d never seen before and that’s one thing I enjoyed about it.
Both Brock and French are strong characters, people who had the worst childhood experiences and have built their personas based on those experiences. This doesn’t mean the impression they give the outside world is who they really are, but due to everything else going on, I felt we only get a glimpse of those people and what they have together.
As usual when I ready a new author, I started reading with the best expectations and this case was not different. Unfortunately, I felt the main focus of the story was on the protective nature of these characters, towards each other as well as the other people surrounding them. Then, there are the subplots of her strained relationship with her father, all she’s doing for the people working for her, his relationships outside work, the threat to her person and business and, IMO, it was all a bit distracting from the main story.
On top of that, the book is the third on a series of a standalones and, though I kept up with the here and now of the story, I found some gaps in it and kept thinking if I shouldn’t have read the others before, if there was a prequel or whether it was a spinoff of another series. Of course, this all ended up taking from my reading experience and I can’t say this was an enjoyable read for me.

New Release + Review: LaClaire Touch by Dori Lavelle

Title: LaClaire Touch
An After Hours Series Novel
Author: Dori Lavelle
Genre: Steamy Contemporary Romance
Release Date: July 31, 2017
When a man pays for my body, I shut off my emotions, close my eyes, and force myself to push through. No thinking. No feeling. No breaking apart.

Soon the debts will be paid. Soon I'll scrub their cologne and sweat from my skin and walk away from this business for good, pretending it never happened.

For now, my body is not my own. For now, I belong to any man who can afford me.

But when Derrick LaClaire asks for a night with me, I turn him away, even when he offers to pay triple what I earn per hour. I need his cash, but if I let him touch me, I know I'll break every single one of my rules. And he'll discover who I really am.

LaClaire Touch is a steamy full-length, standalone novel with a happy ending.

**WARNING: Due to sexual situations and adult content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18. **

Brooke Rayner is a survivor.  That’s what she does after she was kicked out from her home and had to drop out of school at 16.  Nowadays, she is Ruby at The Mirage, the place where both clients and prostitutes can conceal their identities while interacting.  It pays her bills, keeps her anonymity and she’ll be doing it until she can get out of debt and has enough money to start college.

Derrick LaClaire is an adrenaline junkie.  The youngest LaClaire brother will do anything and travel anywhere for that high, the one that helps him forget the nightmares of his life.  When he meets Ruby, he becomes obsessed with having the girl who ran away in the night and comes back to get his fill, but things will take and unexpected turn when she calls out his name…
When their worlds collide and Derrick desperately wants to know why she disappeared and took that path, Brooke will have to confront the demons from her past and unearth secrets she’d rather keep hidden.
This is a story about a second chance with a big twist.  Short and fast paced, but a little over the top for my taste.  I totally understood Brooke’s character and her backstory, but can’t say the same for Derrick and his attitude about life and the consequences of your actions.
IMO, the book was okay and easy to read, just not my style plot wise.

As I get to know her, I can't help wanting to know everything she thinks. I've never met a more talented chef. And I've never met a sassier and sexier woman in my life.

Cole Chambers is a renowned chef, owner of the hottest restaurant in L.A., with a TV show under his belt and celebrity dater extraordinaire.  The man is hot, sexy and exudes confidence.  A god among men.

Willow is his new line cook.  A small-town girl with big dreams and immense passion for her craft.  When Cole calls her out for a variation on one of his recipes, she won’t flinch or stand down and it’s that fire that will make him want to know more about the sassy new girl.

Willow is a spitfire, not willing to compromise her ideas just to satisfy Cole’s ego and I loved the fact that he could see her for what she is, an extremely talented chef, from early on.  Cole on the other hand, is a man closed within himself, but Willow will bring the best out of him and one can’t help but to fall in love.

Sparks will fly and the heat will be off the charts in and out of the kitchen, but when opportunity comes knocking, will Willow choose love or career?

I really enjoyed this story, the main and secondary characters, the descriptions about the places, the food and the way it was all brought to live by the author.  Mr. Hawkins related love and food in an exquisite manner and it was one of my favorite things about this book.

The writing is great, the story is fast paced with an easy flow and there’s no fluff or waste at any time.  In addition to that, it has the right amount of sensuality that makes it as perfect as the most succulent dish.

She lets out a sigh of relief, but my cock hears something different in her gasping exhale. I bring my thumb slowly to a speck at the side of her mouth, fingers resting on the round perfection of her jawline. She stills under my touch and catches my gaze, time slowing with the deliberateness of my movements.

I brush the speck, but don’t pull away. Instead, I bring my thumb back across those ever-pouted lips, tracing their dip and fullness, letting her feel the texture of hands rough and scarred from a lifetime in kitchens, our eyes locked together in a moment of anticipation, emotions raging like an angry sea against the dam of the distance between us.

Her lips part slightly, I feel her shortening breath on my hand, and I push my thumb between those juicy, perfect lips, fingers pressing against the base of her ear. Her gentle gasp breaks the silence, before she closes those soft lips around my thumb, the sight of them pressing against my skin making my cock full against my pants. Her teeth gently squeezing my nail, tongue flickering as I push the finger inside the hot wetness of her mouth.

My other hand already on her waist, I pull her toward me, press her lithe body up against mine. Those magnificent hips swaying and rubbing against mine, her weight shifting onto me, breasts heaving, nipples so hard now I can feel them through that sweater dress.

“You’re fucking incredible,” I growl. Prelude to pulling her toward me, my finger in her mouth still, angling her head so I can taste the tenderness of her neck, run my sensitive tastebuds down the taut muscles, follow the path that leads me to the front of her chest. Quiet moans getting louder as I run my tongue down the softness of her cleavage, her dress my enemy now as I pull it down and bury my teeth in her breasts.

“Oh God…” she moans. “Cole…”

Review: Swole: Wet Wednesday by Author Golden Czermak

Swole: Wet Wednesday by Author Golden Czermak

Sequel to the gay erotica short story Swole: Chest Day and Swole: Leg Day

JONNY CAMERON is a nerdy guy stuck between TRENT CASSIDY, the rugged alpha with a no holds barred attitude and JARED HUGHES, a romantic jock for whom he has budding feelings.

Can Jonny bring himself to make a choice, or is he forever destined to be trapped between these two buff studs, reach ready to release?

WARNING: This is a short story written for mature readers. It is pure escapism, containing adult themes, coarse language, erotic sexual situations, male-male sex, and nudity.

This book definitely lived up to its title! The story continues with Jonny, Jared and Trent. I really enjoyed this story and the development between Jonny and Jared. Jared is sweet, thoughtful and kind but he can be a little naughty as well. Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed with the Whiskey scene. Even though it appears Jared makes great progress, Trent is still lurking around. I can't blame Jonny because Trent is such an arrogant, cocky alpha male and it makes our brains short circuit. I will never be able to look at a bar of soap without smiling again.

I've really come to love these short stories by Czermak! Even if you aren't a fan of m/m I encourage you to read these books! I wasn't a big m/m reader and look at me now!! Czermak writing is sharp, crisp and you feel like are in the story! At one point I felt like renewing my gym membership! These books are perfect when you need to decompress after a heavy read. Or when you just need to escape for an hour!

New Release+Review: Flutter by Olivia Evans

Dylan Walker has spent six years trying to move on from the loss of his girlfriend, Presley Cooper. Motivated by grief and the desire to do for others what he couldn’t do for her, he burns the candle at both ends to make it through medical school. After graduation he moves west, putting as much distance as possible between his past and his present.
Or so he thought.
Unknowingly, Dylan has been set on a path that will destroy everything he thought he knew. All the pain, all the grief, was all for nothing. With the help of an unexpected ally, Dylan must find the answers and save the girl he loves before it’s too late.
A second chance at love.
But first, he must find a way to make her remember her past. Remember him. Remember everything.

I honestly had no idea what to expect when I started this book. Someone in a book group recommended this author but I had never heard or read any of her books prior. So I took a leap of faith and I ended up loving this book so much! I'm not going to lie there had been certain parts of the story that hit close to home and I found myself getting emotional. I didn't want to take those trips down memory lane again or feel the way I did but I'm happy I stuck with the story!

This story was more than just a love story. This was a story about not giving hope, having faith, and being the voice for the voiceless. As I said before I've never read anything by this author before but her words touched me deeply. This story sucked me in and I had to finish no matter how painful, how emotional I got and how tired my eyes got. This story will definitely stay with me for a long time. I would also like to thank the author for writing about the topics that she did in this book. It was different. It was refreshing. Most importantly it was real and gave me hope.

New Release+Review: Meet Me Under The Stars by KD Proctor

When ratings for her popular DIY show start to circle the drain after the sudden death of her sister, Charlotte “Charlie” Conti has only one mission—to plan a comeback. But her sister had other plans. As part of the will, Charlie must work with *him* to create a memorial scholarship in her sister’s memory. The same *him* Charlie fell in love with three years ago while working at a summer camp. The same *him* she dumped, to protect his heart. Sexy, British player, Nate Walsh, has sixty days to find a new job or he’ll be deported back to England where he’s no longer welcome. He doesn’t have time to work on a memorial scholarship with *her*. The same *her* who shattered his heart without explanation or warning. The same *her* he’s never gotten over. Unable to agree on the specifics of the scholarship, Nate and Charlie challenge each other to a winner-takes-all competition. They both know the only way to win is to turn up the heat and tempt one another with the one thing they both want: each other. But as sparks fly, their true feelings resurface. Nate and Charlie must decide if their love is worth the effort and if they can overcome their disastrous past mistakes to spend forever together.

Charlotte “Charlie” Conti is taking a break from work after her sister’s death. When her work on her DIY TV show starts to suffer, the network sends her away to “sort” things out which means her job is on the line.
Nate Walsh is working on his research wanting to break a record and make a mark that could give him the extra push he needs to get his work visa sponsored and stay in the U.S. when he receives a letter from the government giving him the feared deadline to sort his situation.
It’s at that time in their lives when their paths will come to cross again when the terms of Gwen’s will bring them together and make them work establishing a scholarship fund and taking care of her memorial at the camp she always loved.
This is a story about a second chance brought about in the most unusual way, but it’s also a story about love, friendship and grief.
There just too many things to love about this book. Nate and Charlie are amazing characters and their love for each other is deep and pure, tainted by the lack of communication and the misguided, but still selfless actions that bring on their breakup. The trip to memory lane during the week before the reunion, the friendships they still have and the way they deal with the pain of loss and support each other.
In a nutshell, MMUTS is a gem that will pull on the strings of your heart.
I think this was an amazing debut for Ms. Proctor and hope it’s only the beginning of a fruitful writing career.
Some of my favorite passages: “You know, hope is a funny thing. It always seems to find its way to you even when you think there is nothing to be hopeful about.”
“To me, love is more like a mosaic – creating something beautiful while still flawed and imperfect.”
