Review: Stroked Long by Meghan Quinn

We're so excited about the release of STROKED LONG by Meghan Quinn!
STROKED LONG by Meghan Quinn
Scheduled to release: September 20, 2016
Sports Romance
Cover Designed by: Indie Solutions by Murphy Rae
BLURB:
From his dirty-blond hair and breathtaking smile, to the abs from heaven and the irresistible V in his waistline, everything about Bodi Olympic-gold-medalist Banks screams hot piece of @$$.

Yet there’s more.

Dark shadows lurk behind his soulful, serious eyes.

I’m enamored. He’s captured me.

How can running an art foundation with Bodi Banks turns into a slow-burning, epic romance, even though he tries to push me away at every chance? How can I stay away from a broken, routine-driven man whose soul cries to be forgiven for a crime only he believes he committed? Or is that a lie?

**STROKED LONG can be read as a stand alone.

Bodiiiiiiii!! Meghan Quinn got my heart strings pulled right in the beginning. A little boy's mental state  trapped into a man's body.   But that isn't just any man, no ma'mm. He's an Olympic Gold Medalist.  But only a select few knows his demons and regrets when he was a child.

Ruby Hearts is a quirky art teacher who works at the Boys & Girls Club.  Playing in glitter, glue and lots of color, things don't let her down.  But when she started working closely with Bodi, she starts to notice his behaviors. Instead of bringing it up, she comforts him.

A lot of LOL moments between them. Especially the back and forth banter when text messaging when he really opened up.  I did enjoy Stroked Long. Was rooting for him to find peace and having her be his rock.

STROKED by Meghan Quinn

BLURB:
Reese King: Olympic medalist, underwear model, Greek god.

His body is chiseled from rock, sculpted by the weight room, and refined by water.

On a daily basis his skin is completely bare for everyone to see, tan and defined, only covered up by a minuscule piece of spandex. There is no denying his sex appeal.

I hate to admit it, but I’m head over heels infatuated with him.

There is one HUGE problem though. His achingly gorgeous abs, inked up arm, and cocky swagger belong to my boss, the high-profile, reality star bitch from hell and certified heinous human being, Bellini Chambers.

What I think is going to be an easy job assisting a glorified wench turns into a cluster f*ck of epic proportions.

About the Author:

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if "It's Raining Men" starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing... enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

New Release+Review: Midnight Scent by Dori Lavelle

Title: Midnight Scent
Series: Amour Toxique #1
Author: Dori Lavelle
Genre: New Adult Romantic Thriller/Suspense
 Release Date: September 27, 2016

Blurb

I find the love letters in my new dorm room, left behind by a previous occupant.

They're meant for someone else, but the words speak to me. They slide off the page and wrap themselves around my body, touching me in places I never knew existed.

I'm falling in love with each word, unable to stop myself.

And I don't even know his name.

Until they tell me.

His name is Judson Devereux. They say he’s toxic. Falling for him will be a mistake.

I want to believe them. I want to walk away. But the words refuse to be erased from the invisible parts of me.

I'm hooked on the scent of his poison. It’s bad for me. It could kill me. But I’m in too deep.

*This series contains sexual content, dark themes, and violence that could trigger emotional distress in readers.*

*Amour Toxique is a serial that unfolds over three volumes.*

This is a new to me author and the blurb caught my attention. The books begins with a big shock and I knew I was in for a ride. Ivy finds some letters from a prisoner named Judson. He's awaiting trial for the murder of his ex lover boyfriend, who happened to be a student at the school he taught. Yeah talk about messy!! Even though Ivy was warned by several people including his ex lover Jennifer, she still corresponds with him and even visits him in jail. The plot of this story was good but I felt it was too rushed and didn't feel the connection between the characters. They fell in love way too fast IMO. I'm still on the fence with Judson and don't know if he can be trusted. I wish Ivy would have exercise more caution when it came to Judson. I was able to read the story in one sitting but it wasn't enough. I'm curious to find out will happen with Ivy and Judson. I have a hunch why Judson is so infatuated with Ivy and waiting to see if I'm right. I'm hoping I get the much needed answers in the next book after the way this book ended! That ending was insane and not cool! Overall I was impressed and if you are looking for a thrilling read this series is for you!

Ten years is a long time when you’re thirty-two. We’d seen our share of ups and downs, but I could honestly say, they were mostly up. That’s the thing about happiness though. It lulls you into a false sense of security.

Neither one of us ever thought we’d ever be touched by crippling loss or immeasurable grief. But not all stories have a happy ending, and I knew, better than anyone, that sometimes, one of you won’t make it till the end. One of you has to go first. And one of you will be left behind to pick up the pieces.

That one is me.

But starting over isn’t what I thought it would be. I need escape from the memories that plague me, remind me. So I went back to where it all began. To the town where I was born. To the place whose beauty could pierce my pain. Where I experienced my first kiss, where I fell in love, where a man was my earth. And I…

I was his sky.

Such an emotional ride. Second chances with sadness, hope and love.   This gut wrenching story from J.B Hartnet will leave you heartache, tears and joy.  Bring your tissues because you will need them.

Riley had two loves. Childhood and adult loves.  When she was younger, she fell in love with her childhood sweetheart. But when she got older, she left her home and eventually met her husband.
However, through heartache and tears. Her life was over and she needed a new start and to go back "home".

When she returned, everything changed.  She had to find herself again.  And through that time, she reunited with her childhood love and a rekindled romance.

An incredible story for second chances where love never died and hope is reborn.

Cover Reveal: A Love Letter To Whiskey by Kandi Steiner

Title: A Love Letter to Whiskey
Author: Kandi Steiner
Release Date: Oct 13, 2016
Add to Goodreads
It’s crazy how fast the buzz comes back after you’ve been sober for so long.
Whiskey stood there, on my doorstep, just like he had one year before. Except this time, there was no rain, no anger, no wedding invitation — it was just us.
It was just him — the old friend, the easy smile, the twisted solace wrapped in a glittering bottle.
It was just me — the alcoholic, pretending like I didn’t want to taste him, realizing too quickly that months of being clean didn’t make me crave him any less.
But we can’t start here.
No, to tell this story right, we need to go back.
Back to the beginning.
Back to the very first drop.
This is my love letter to Whiskey. I only hope he reads it.
The first time I tasted Whiskey, I fell flat on my face.
Literally.
I was drunk from the very first sip, and I guess that should have been my sign to stay away.
Jenna and I were running the trail around the lake near her house, sweat dripping into our eyes from the intense South Florida heat. It was early September, but in South Florida, it might as well have been July. There was no “boots and scarves” season, unless you counted the approximately six weeks in January and February where the temperature dropped below eighty degrees.
As it was, we were battling ninety-plus degrees, me trying to be a show off and prove I could keep up with Jenna’s cheerleading training program. She had finally made the varsity squad, and with that privilege came ridiculous standards she had to uphold. I hated running — absolutelyloathed it. I would much rather have been on my surf board that day. But fortunately for Jenna, she had a competitive best friend who never turned down a challenge. So when she asked me to train with her, I’d agreed eagerly, even knowing I’d have screaming ribs and calves by the end of the day.
I saw him first.
I was just a few steps ahead of Jenna, and I’d been staring down at my hot pink sneakers as they hit the concrete. When I looked up, he was about fifty feet away, and even from that distance I could tell I was in trouble. He seemed sort of average at first — brown hair, lean build, soaked white running shirt — but the closer he got, the more I realized just how edible he was. I noticed the shift in the muscles of his legs as he ran, the way his hair bounced slightly, how he pressed his lips together in concentration as he neared us.
I looked over my shoulder, attempting to waggle my eyebrows at Jenna and give her the secret best friend code for “hot guy up ahead”, but she had stopped to tie her shoes. And when I turned back around, it was too late.
I smacked into him — hard — and fell to the pavement, rolling a bit to soften the fall. He cursed and I groaned, more from embarrassment than pain. I wish I could say I gracefully picked myself up, smiled radiantly, and asked him for his number, but the truth is I lost the ability to do anything the minute I looked up at him.
It was an unfamiliar, warm ache that spread through my chest as I used my hand to shield the sun streaming in behind his silhouette, just how you’d expect the first sip of whiskey to feel. He was bent over, hand outstretched, saying something that wasn’t registering because I had somehow managed to slip my hand into his and just that one touch had set my skin on fire.
Handsome wasn’t the right word to describe him, but it was all I kept thinking as I traced his features. His hair was a sort of mocha color, damp at the roots, falling onto his forehead just slightly. His eyes were wide — almost too round — and a mixture of gold, green, and the deepest brown. I didn’t coin the nickname Whiskey until much later, but it was that moment that I saw it for the first time — those were whiskey eyes. The kind of eyes you get lost in. The kind that drink you in. He had the longest lashes and a firm, square jaw. It was so hard, the edges so clean that I would have sworn he was angry with me if it weren’t for the smile on his face.He was still talking as my eyes fell over his broad chest before snapping back up to his sideways grin.
“Oh my God, are you fucking blind?!” Jenna’s voice snapped me from my haze as she shoved Whiskey out of the way and latched onto my hand, ripping me back to standing position. I’d barely caught my balance before she whipped around to continue her scolding. “How about you brush that long ass hair out of your eyes and watch where you’re going, huh champ?”
Oh no.
I didn’t even have time to call dibs, I couldn’t even think the word, let alone say it, before it was too late. I watched it, in slow motion, as Whiskey fell for my best friend before I even had the chance to say a single word to him.
Jenna was standing tall, arms crossed, one hip popped in her usual fashion as she waited for him to defend himself. This was her protocol — it was one of the reasons we got along. We were both what you’d call “spitfires”, but Jenna had the distinct advantage of being cripplingly gorgeous on top of having an attitude. She flipped her long, wavy blonde ponytail behind her and cocked a brow.
And then he did, too.
His smile grew wider as he met her eyes, and it was the same look I’d watched fall
over guy after countless guy. Jenna was a unicorn, and men were enamored by her. As they should have been — she had platinum blonde hair, crystal blue eyes, legs for days and a personality to boot. Now, before you go thinking that I was the insecure best friend - I had it going on, too. I worked hard, I was talented - just not at the things traditional high school boys valued.
But we’ll get to that.
“Hi,” Whiskey finally said, extending his hand to Jenna this time. His eyes were warm, smile inviting — if I had to pick the right word for him, just one, I’d say charming. He just oozed charm. “I’m Jamie.”
“Well, Jamie, maybe you should make an appointment with the eye doctor before you run over another innocent jogger. And you owe Brecks an apology.” She nodded to me then and I cringed at my name, wondering why she felt the need to spill it at all. She always called me B — everyone did — so why did she choose the moment I was face to face with the first boy to ever make my heart accelerate to use my full name?
Jamie was still grinning, eying Jenna, trying to figure her out, but he turned to me after a moment with that same crooked smile. “I’m sorry, I should have been watching where I was going.” He said the words with conviction, but lifted his brows on that last line because he and I both knew who wasn’t paying attention to the trail, and he wasn’t the guilty party.
“It’s fine,” I murmured, because for some reason I was still having a difficult time finding my voice. Jamie tilted his head just a fraction, his eyes hard on me this time, and I felt naked beneath his gaze. I’d never had anyone look at me that way — completely zeroed in. It was unnerving and exhilarating, too.
But before I could latch onto the feeling, he turned back to Jenna, their eyes meeting as slow smiles spread on both of their faces. I’d seen it a million times, but this was the first time I felt sick watching it happen.
I saw him first, but it didn’t matter.
Because he saw her.

Blog Tour: Call Me by Gillian Jones

Title: Call ME
Author: Gillian Jones
Genre: Erotic Romance
Release Date: September 19, 2016

Synopsis
Some know me as Chanel69. But to my friends and family, I'm simply Ellie Hughes. A university student who's in desperate need of money. A lot of money, and fast. I'm about to start a new job. Three nights a week I'll be the star in your late night fantasies, bringing your fetishes and fucked up scenarios to life. Men will listen to my voice while they get off on their dirtiest desires. Truth be told...this job makes me nervous. Regardless of the money, I don't think I can do it. But when he calls I feel an instant connection. Over time, he becomes my regular, my friend, and my confidant. The problem is…he seems familiar...I think I know who he is. If I’m right, how will he react when he discovers that I'm Chanel69?

Here we have the story of Ellie Hughes, a university student in her last semester of her undergraduate degree, and Ace Reynolds, her super yummy teacher and thesis advisor.
When Ellie’s dreams are almost crushed by a career ending injury that takes away her sports scholarship, she’ll resort to the unthinkable and become Chanel69, a phone sex operator while Ace is working on a documentary to submit for a career changing competition.  His theme?  You guessed it, the sex industry.
Things will happen that will throw our characters together whether or not they want it. The attraction will grow as well as the conflict, but no matter how you see it, this is not your run of the mill student-teacher romance.
This was a surprisingly amazing story, one that deals with a serious theme that should not been taken lightly, but still washandled in a fun and classy way.
I enjoyed the story immensely.  The writing, the characters and their background stories and development, the steamy scenes and the details to make all of it happen.  It also delves on the shady side of the sex trade and the author explains beforehand how the reality of the situation is not as easy as portrait in this book.
Loved every single minute of it! J

4.5 Book Corner Stars

We have Ellie who lost her sports scholarship and resorts to being a phone sex operator to pay for her Master's Program. Her new professor, Doctor Ace Ryan is working undercover on a documentary about the sex industry. During this time they both developed a crush on each other but they can't act on it because it's not allowed. The whole student/teacher thing. Now with the way this was set up I was expecting there to be some drama and angst. Ellie spent majority of her time at work and developed a regular caller name "Jake". They spent several months talking and developed a friendship. I felt more of a connection with her and Jake. I wish that we would have gotten more time with her and Ace. They spent a lot of time together in school and the times outside of the school seemed rushed. The story was cute and funny but I felt like there was some loose ends regarding her father that needed to be tied up. The ending was a little flat for me but it's still a cute story. I loved the "Kill Bill" references! If you are looking for a funny, low angst book, this book is definitely for you.

Excerpt
Screwed. Done for. Finished. Finito. Fucked. Completely fucked. I need to get a grip. I knew taking the job here was going be a risk; it always is when taking a job where you’re the one on faculty with the least seniority. What I didn’t expect was that there might be a risk I didn’t foresee that could end my goddamned career. And one I’d meet on the first day of school. It’s my first year teaching at the University of Toronto. I was headhunted by the school, and finally agreed to make the move from Queen’s in Kingston to Toronto this year. Having my friends Mercer and Dylan both teaching here helped with my decision, but it was the chair offering me the two courses I loved to teach most that cinched it: Sexual Aesthetics & Representations in Film and Masters Thesis Essay in Sexual Diversity in Film. Both fascinating courses, and both with the same student enrolled who has me rethinking my decision to come here. Three words. Ellie Raine Hughes. They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression, and my first impression of Ellie—albeit unique—is not one I’ll soon forget. I’ve never had quite the “meet cute” as I did this morning—she is adorable. I swear to Christ, I thought my dick was going to spring out of my jeans when she settled into the seat in front of me in my Sexual Aesthetics class. First impression: not only is Ellie beautiful, she smells incredible, a mix of fruit and candy with a subtle vanilla twist, and I’ve never smelled anything quite so satisfying before. Don’t get me started on my thoughts when she took her sweater off. I’m curious to see if she’s actually a serious student or just the little jokester I saw glimpses of this morning. Not going to lie, I’m eager to find out. I always like to sit back and observe the students as they make their way into class on the first day. I find it gives me a better sense of who’s who, provides me with good insight for the semester; it gives an outlook as to what type of class I might have on my hands. Is there a good balance of serious and non-serious students? Are they a loud crew? Is the room full of students that think this will be a bird credit? And so on. This morning, however, I noted none of that. Sitting behind Ellie and Courtney only proved to distract me from my ritual viewing as my eyes and ears didn’t make it past them. I was instead too caught up in them—in her. As soon as I heard her honeyed voice make its way to my chair, my ears weren’t the only things that perked up to pay attention. As I sat back, I saw that Ellie’s smile was just as infectious as her laugh, and my senses zeroed in on her—and only her—during the time I was meant to be observing everyone coming in the lecture hall. Unfortunately, I honestly couldn’t tell you shit about the rest of the students, only her. If she’s as smart as she is attractive, then she’ll definitely be somebody’s jackpot. From experience, though, it’s never the way. It’s rare that a person is ever actually blessed with the trifecta of wit, intelligence and beauty that Ellie’s “Mr. Vernon” reply indicated. I just might like holding her for detention. Either way, I’ll gladly accept the lovely view for the semester. I, myself, prefer brains with a more understated beauty. Not that it would matter if I were attracted to her anyway, teacher/student relations are a no-go. However, listening to the two young women was quite entertaining. Entertaining to the point where I was almost late starting the class. Ms. Hughes seems to have a rebel streak, that whole “A for Asshole” joke piqued my curiosity. I’m very interested to see what type of student Ms. Hughes will be. Truth be told, I’d like to hear her thoughts about me more than I’d care to admit. Did she find me intimidating? Good looking? Does she think I’ll be some stuck up film guy, or did she like what she saw? I have a pretty good idea where Ellie’s friend was going before I choose that as my point of entry into the conversation. Luckily, I managed to start class on time, while gaining two new model students, I presume. The look on both women’s faces was priceless, once I’d introduced myself after I stood up from the seat behind them, shocking the hell out of them. The blush over Ellie’s face was even more compelling. Now, if only I could stop trying to imagine what the rest of her would look like flushed under my perusal. Ellie Raine Hughes could be big trouble if I’m not careful. call-me-1

New Release+Review: The Silent Waters by Brittainy C. Cherry

Title: The Silent Waters
Series: Romance Elements #3
Author: Brittainy C. Cherry
Genre: Romance
 Release Date: September 22, 2016

Blurb

Moments.

Our lives are a collection of moments. Some utterly painful and full of yesterday's hurts. Some beautifully hopeful and full of tomorrow's promises.

I’ve had many moments in my lifetime, moments that changed me, challenged me. Moments that scared me and engulfed me. However, the biggest ones—the most heartbreaking and breathtaking ones—all included him.

I was ten years old when I lost my voice. A piece of me was stolen away, and the only person who could truly hear my silence was Brooks Griffin. He was the light during my dark days, the promise of tomorrow, until tragedy found him. Tragedy that eventually drowned him in a sea of memories.

This is the story of a boy and girl who loved each other, but didn’t love themselves. A story of life and death. Of love and broken promises.

Of moments.

(Book Three in the Elements Series. Complete Standalone.)

So Cherry is an author that I've heard of but haven't read. One of my close friends pretty much threatened to cut off our friendship if I didn't read her books. So with that being said I took the plunge and read "The Silent Waters". This book was definitely not what I was expecting and I mean that in a good day. What Maggie endured during her childhood was horrible! This was supposed to be a happy time and all of that got ripped away on a night that should have been fun. Brooks, he stoled my heart in this story. He never ever stopped loving and supporting Maggie after her ordeal. What happened to Maggie put a tremendous strain on her family but he stood by her through all the good and bad times!! Every member suffered with Maggie in their own way. One tiny issue is the length of how long Maggie went without a voice. I wish that she would have gotten the courage sooner so she could have begun the healing process faster. The writing in this book was wonderful and the story really did grab me and I finished the book in a couple of hours. I loved the message behind this book about finding your voice and strength.  The author's  note at the end really touched me as well. Thank You Cherry for writing a book that was hard for you! This book will give a lot of people courage to find their voice. Cherry will be definitely added to my go to authors and I have some catching up to do!
